March 6, 2012.. A day that I will remember for the rest of my life. The words over the phone were
"I'm sorry the biopsy of your tongue showed you have cancer." I was in shock! A biopsy of the underside of my tongue revealed oral cancer. I had never smoked, used tobacco or recreational drugs. In fact. I was the one who told everybody how to eat and take the right supplements for their health. Heck, last year, I even wrote an E-book entitled "Natural Remedies To Help You Stress Less". The fact of the matter though, was that I was ignoring my own advice. Sure I ate good and took supplements, but I was a stressed out maniac, who ignored good advice the year before from her dentist, when told, you have a suspicious looking white patch on the underside of you tongue and all some sores that will not go away. I would like to biopsy to see. Most likely is not anything. All I heard was the "most likely an autoimmune disorder and kept right on going, trying to build an Internet business and being stressed out all the time.Well it caught up with me.
After the diagnosis, it was a whirlwind. I went for a consult and they ordered a CT scan and chest x-ray. Three days later, I went back the doctor to be told it was more extensive than what we thought and that I would have to have radical surgery to not only remove the cancer and the begin tumor on the other side of the tongue, but that they wanted to remove half my jaw, teeth and do a neck dissection to remove all the lymph nodes in my neck, because on of my lymph nodes was slightly swollen. I told them in no uncertain terms what they could do with their diagnosis and set off on a quest to find an alternative route. I did however have a consult with an ENT who suggested I see a Radiation Oncologist, When I did see the Radiation Oncologist, they recommended that I have the same surgery. This made me more determined than ever to fight this and win, but do it in a way that would help my body and not hurt it.
Now fast forward to June 2012. I have been learning how to fight cancer naturally. I have "cralwed' all over the Internet and found many wonderful resources. I have learned how to forgive and let go of bitterness. I am still learning how to not stress, as cancer is very scary. I am learning how to trust God more and let him handle all my problems. (still have quite a way to go on that one)! I have been using alternative methods such as diet, prescribed herbal remedies, vitamins and a wonderful device called a Rife Machine. Now however, it is time for a more aggressive approach, which means going to a Alternative Cancer clinic that uses IV therapies, detox therapies, other modalities, and a mind/body approach to healing the cancer. They believe in not only eliminating the cancer, but rebuilding the immune system to levels that make the cancer never want to return!
The only drawback is that it is going to cost us a lot of money. Insurance does not like to cover these things. They will cover prescription drugs that the doctor will be prescribing for me at first to help the pain and target the cancer, but they will not pay for IV vitamins and other "gentle methods". So that leaves me having to ask for support from friends and family. I will need to raise $20,000 before July 31, in order to pay for my treatment. I have been given a loan from Care Credit in the amount of $3,000 which will help me get started. I know this seems like a lot of money and many of you may be asking why I just didn't "suck it up"and have the surgery. Well many reasons why not. But the primary two are one that I am only 45 years old, enjoy life and feel very strongly, from going through this and God getting my attention, what his plan and calling are for my life. (What that calling entails, I do not know all the details, but I do know that it will be running a Nursing Home Ministry and a not for profit business of something like a Senior Center at Home for shut in elders on low incomes.) Two, I am a mom to a wonderful almost seven year old boy. I do not want him to possibly loose his mommy or see his mommy spend the next three to five years of life in and out of medical facilities.
Thank you friends for reading this. I will keep you updated as to what is happening. In the meantime your prayers and financial support are greatly appreciated!
So glad that I can be a part of the miracle God is working in your life. We wait on the Lord b/c He is so faithful. I pray for wisdom for the specialists. God's Word be gloriously revealed in your life. Speak peace and encouragement as well as joy that is deep and abiding, Lord. Hi Melody, I am a friend of friends and was shocked to see the post about your health. I totally understand what you are doing, and faced with something like it I hope I have to courage to do it your way. The alternative is hardly an option. Love to you and many prayers.
ReplyDeleteContinue to pray for Melody. The situation is urgent. A few days ago they inserted a feeding tube to sustain her. She has lost so much weight that she is skin and bones. The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy, BUT Jesus came that we-Melody-might have life and have it more abundantly! She needs $29K for treatment. If you find it in your heart to show your faith by your deeds, as it says in James, then start fund-raising for her and go ahead and repost her site, www.journeywithmelwhite.blogspot.com Share her blog w/ anyone and every1! Thank you so much in advance for helping even the stranger as God has commanded us to do. She needs the funds by the 2nd week of August to pay for her treatment. She has some money to begin treatment, but needs more money by mid August. I want to really get this out there. If it was your sister, daughter, or child u would do whatever it takes. she IS our sister in Christ! She has a 6 yo son and a devoted husband who love her deeply. Type out your prayers for her and even post them here. She needs encouragement. The enemy tries to sap her faith & energy away, but God is greater than our faith! Lift Jesus up and do not stop praising Him! Show true faith and "religion" (James 1:27) by your gifts to our sister in her time of need. Give out of a full heart of the overflow of what Jesus has done for you! He is good and our gifts cannot compare to His great Gift of His One and Only Son Jesus to us! The fervent-all out, w/ all your strength- prayer of a righteous, covered by the blood of Jesus, person accomplishes much! God bless the prayers and praises of his saints and may our prayers bring the healing touch of God to melody and comport and strength to her and her family now in Jesus name!
